Remarkably, there are still tickets available for Arthur Lee and Love's secret gig on the 31st March. The band are playing with brass and string sections at the Kings Cross Scala (capacity 700 people). Tickets are available on Ticketweb under the psudonym Andmoreagains. I plan to get there early and stand right at the front.

The Super Furry Animals are sharing a stage with Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. Saturday April 19th at the Royal Festival Hall. Apparently the Furries will be previewing songs from their new album.

Apparently I haven't missed Joe Pernice's solo gig at the Borderline. Until this morning I had believed that I had missed it whilst watching My Morning Jacket on the 10th February. But, alas, no, I cocked up. A good cock-up. Actual date: 10th March. I'll be there.

Richard Hawley and I Am Kloot both play forthcoming gigs at the Scala. The new Richard Hawley album, Lowedges, is marvellous.

Tarwater headline a Kitty-Yo night at the Garage on the 23rd March.

Indie legend Anthony Green, of Rare Pleasures, recently told me that he hoped to get Nina Nastasia as support for Cat Power's forthcoming UK tour. Chan Marshall will apparently be touring with an eight piece band, and Nastasia is expected to be in the country at around the same time.

If Green is a man of his word, yours truly will be DJing at the Microphones/Scout Niblett gig at the Arts Cafe. Details and ticket info, along with word on unmissable gigs from Hrvatski and Sam Shalabi, are on the rarepleasures.co.uk website.

The Polyphonic Spree look certain to play Glastonbury 2003, which will definitely be going ahead. Whoo!

Yo La Tengo are playing at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in May, as are the Dirty Three.

Both My Morning Jacket albums, The Tennessee Fire and At Dawn, rereleased on Monday. Buy 'em both.

I'll get those concert reviews up when I return from my Roman sojourn.
