Today’s Music Purchases:

Spokane – Leisure and Other Songs (£3)
Geographic Music compilation – You don’t need darkness to do what you think is right (50p)
Maher Shalal Hash Bez – Mahar on Water (50p)
The Bill Wells Octet vs Future Pilot AKA (£3)
The Butterflies of Love – The New Patient (£4)
Damon and Naomi with Kurihara – Song to the Siren (50p)
Electric Music AKA – The resurrection show (50p)
Bad Taste Records – World Domination or Death (Icelandic Indie comp from 1990) 12" vinyl (£1)

And most importantly...

One ticket for the Mountain Goats at the Spitz on February 6th - £6.80 with Ticketweb fee!

So today’s best news was that the man at the Notting Hill MVE charged me 50p for the promo albums instead of the correct £1. Today’s bad news was that London slowed to a halt with the tiniest bit of snow, and I walked from Baker Street to Golders Green, had a couple of pints, and then from Golders Green to home in Willesden.

If public transport is running as planned tomorrow night, I’ll be off to see Of Montreal at the Spitz.

One line gig reviews:

Monade – Sounds like low-key Stereolab. Singer is the Stereolab singer, and no, she didn’t mention Mary Hansen’s death. Mostly French lyrics. Chilled.

High Llamas – It’s summer! The High Llamas put a smile on my face. Lots of lovely xylophone. Sean O’Hagan is such a gentle creature.

The Sea and Cake – Not exactly thrilling but enjoyable nonetheless. Drummer concentrates very hard. Prewitt reminds me a little of Callaghan. Poor banter.

The Telescopes – One thirty minute song comprises entire set. Sounds like helicopters during Desert Storm. Bursts of trumpet. I see tanks, bombs, blood. Fucks up my head completely and I don’t recover until the next morning.

www.reallyrather.blogspot.com recommend the forthcoming Denison Witter show. A solid recommendation.
